He Fa began with photography.
Around 2015, he and Zhang Shaohua initiated P4 Theater in Beijing, with He Fa continuing as its long-term artistic lead and organiser. Human Surrender / Shoot Self with You moved through casting, rehearsal, filming and The Last Rehearsal in 2023; an approximately 156-minute film cut followed in 2024.

The project moved through casting, rehearsal, filming and public performance in 2023; an approximately 156-minute film cut followed in 2024. The camera also records the director’s place inside the situation.
P4
P4 Theater / 2015–present
He Fa and Zhang Shaohua initiated P4 Theater in Beijing, with He Fa continuing as its long-term artistic lead and organiser. Projects have entered former factories, a small office, a boxing space, bookstores and private rooms.

He Fa / 何发
He Fa is an interdisciplinary artist and a theatre and moving-image maker. He is a co-initiator and the long-term artistic lead and organiser of P4 Theater. His practice began with photography and later moved into live work, film and sound.
He studied photography at the School of Design, Central Academy of Fine Arts, and later undertook Fine Arts MFA-stage study at California College of the Arts, participating in its 2018 MFA Thesis Exhibition.
